About Gwent IAM

Gwent IAM is a local IAM RoadSmart group. We are an independent, volunteer-run charity affiliated with the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). The Institute of Advanced Motorists markets itself as IAM RoadSmart and is the UK’s leading road safety charity.

Whilst members are welcome from any part of the globe, our primary focus is on the following areas:

- Newport

- Monmouthshire (including Abergavenny, Chepstow, and Monmouth)

- Torfaen (including Cwmbran and Pontypool)

- Blaenau Gwent (including Ebbw Vale and Tredegar)

IAM RoadSmart sets the national standards, develops the training programmes, and conducts the official Advanced Tests. As your local group, we provide the hands-on coaching and support needed to help riders prepare for the test, as well as organising local rides, events and social activities.
